Some of you may know that previously, I’ve completed two long distance walks to raise money for children’s charities. Despite a few unpleasant after-effects, those experiences haven’t put me off and being now lucky enough to work with children who have plenty of love and support, I find myself thinking about those who are less fortunate. So, I am planning to do a third walk at Easter next year. The other two were from Chelmsford to Sunderland but this time, I am going to do a tour of Essex. The main logistical advantage is that I can come home each night but I am aiming for a 10 day walk of around 230 miles.
The funds raised will go to ‘Kids Inspire’, a Chelmsford-based, Essex-wide charity. This link will take you to their website and I’m sure that you will quickly see why they are a worthwhile cause - http://www.kidsinspire.org.uk/
The purpose of this article is to encourage you to get involved in some way. That could be joining me for some of the walking, using your social, school and business contacts to maximise fund-raising or maybe just trying to talk me out of it! I would welcome some help in ensuring that the event gets the maximum publicity so if you are interested in being part of it, please let me know.
