With a bumper entry of 150 entrants, the Stellisons Junior Open went exceptionally well this year. “They key to success is getting a dedicated team of helpers around you”, says Graham Broadley, the competition organiser. “Each year the tournament grows and its reputation gets bigger”.
The standard of entrants equalled a Grade 3 in some events, so spectators were treated to some good quality tennis. The tournament sponsor, Stellisons, were also rewarded with wins from players they fund at Westcliff Hard; Darien Lamb won the U16 and Eleanor Baglow won both the U12 & U14 events.
The feedback from parents after the event has proved excellent and the “tournament team’ are looking forwarded to promoting and increasing the size of the event next year.
