Sadly, we have to announce that Dennis Lloyed aged 94, has passed away peacefully. He was tennis coach of immense standing and was highly respected through the Tennis comunity.
The Marconi Tennis Club Junior Open Tournament was held over 3 days in glorious sunshine, except for a thunderstorm on the last day. The grade 4 tournament event was played on the 6 new excellent courts at the Chelmsford home of Marconi.
The final week of August saw Thorpe Bay Lawn Tennis Club celebrate its 40th year as host of The Essex County Closed Lawn Tennis Championships. The event drew almost 250 players from across the County and play was of a high standard.
There was an increase in the entries this year, although, regrettably, no girl’s events were played. The players not only enjoyed the tennis but the superb facilities at the Club.
One of our best boy prospects was the winner of the Summer County Tour National Leader board.2014. He is Matthew Doe, aged 13 years, He plays at Mountnessing Tennis Club and is coached Ash Baker. He has much natural ability which augers well for the future. Well done Matthew!
