My Spanish Tennis Adventure!

Hola Amigos!!!!!!

It all started on the 1st of April, when we started the long drive down to Villena, in Spain, as I was going to attend the JCFerrero Equelite Tennis Academy for 4 months.

I was going to train for four days a week. The training, which was for 7 hours a day, included both tennis and fitness. The fitness was all about speed and conditioning and the tennis was about different intense drills, match play and working all of the shots to make them better in different ways. My main coach was called Oscar; he was strict, kind and a funny guy. He taught me lots of tactics for match play, simple ways of improving my serve, forehand and my defending shots.

If I hit the ball into the net I had to do 5 jumps or sometimes push ups. If you had a bad attitude they sent you off the court. Even though it was very hot they still made you pick up the balls before you were allowed some water. All the coaches were very strict, but they were really nice and made me laugh every single day for different reasons.

I played in different tournaments. I came 2nd in a Benidorm tournament, losing in two sets to one against the number one seed. The biggest tournaments I played in were the Nike Junior Open and the Valencia 500 Promesas it was an amazing fun experience. For each tournament you always got something just for entering like a towel or a tee shirt and I got an amazing prize for coming second, which included a tennis outfit.

I made many friends whilst I was there from all over the world which included Danni, Katia, Jahanna and many more.

Nico Almagro and Tita Torro are professionals who train full time at the Academy. They were very kind and always said hola to everyone. Almagro use to sometimes sing on the tennis court and Tita always was saying vamos and laughing.

On my last day I was very lucky, I got to train with Tita and her coach (the photo is me with Tita). I played a few points with her and won some. I also did some drills with her which was very hard and showed me how hard you have to train to be as good as her.

I had an amazing time and experience. I would definitely like to go back and would highly recommend it to anyone

Adios Amigo’s

VAMOS Eleanor
