This year saw the 4th Mini Tournament take place at Theydon Bois Tennis Club – an event which is fast becoming a favourite with children and adults alike.
Matches are played on LTA Red Ball courts, and I should like to thank Lyn O’Brien from the Essex LTA for all her help and advice, since the outset of this event at Theydon Bois Tennis Club – and for the loan of the additional equipment, i.e. mini nets and small racquets.
The Tournament is aimed at allowing the younger members of the club to take part in a competition, so to help in this connection, they are partnered by an adult (Mum, Dad, Grandad, Uncle etc), and then arranged in small groups, each of which plays a Round Robin format, using simply scoring.
The games can become highly competitive, especially if they involve Mum and Dad, and rival siblings! However, they are always played in good spirit, and great fun is had by all, and this year was no exception.
Having had to cancel the earlier June date, we had our fingers crossed that the weather would stay fine and I am pleased to say, we weren’t disappointed, with many Mums and Dads, family and friends there to cheer on their teams.
All Competitors received a Certificate and a Jubilee Medal, and the each Section winner, received a Competition medal.
