Wimbledon comes early to the Connaught Club

Thursday, June 27, 2013

The Connaught Club recently unveiled its newly resurfaced courts in the unique Wimbledon colours of purple and green.

This was made possible by the support of our rising membership base and some great appreciated assistance from Essex LTA by way of a small loan. This enabled the club to be able to refurbish all four of its outdoor courts for the first time in 12 years!

A lot of hard work and voluntary time was also given up by the

MUGS (members undertaking general services) prior to the resurfacing. They continue to be an asset to the club by helping with general repairs across all the playing sections in order to keep the Connaught looking at its best.

The driving force behind the project has been the Club President, Graham Murray along with the Manager Nicola Bastick and the Chairman Paul Ziles. Graham was delighted to finally see the new courts being laid after many months of negotiation and meetings with Plexipave UK Limited over colour, speed of surface and more recently bad weather!!

To celebrate the club will be holding a social tennis morning on Wimbledon Men’s Finals day along with the second Rod Petchey Men’s Tournament to be held later in the month.

The Connaught looks forward to welcoming visitors to the club and wishes all its members and supporters continued success through this tennis season and beyond.
